Woman wins $200K on scratch-off ticket at Sumter Food Lion

A Midlands woman, running early for a veterinarian appointment for her dog, stopped to purchase a scratch-off ticket at the Food Lion on North Guignard Drive in Sumter.  The $5 MONOPOLY ticket was a $200,000 winner.

"I almost passed out," the woman said in a news release from the  S.C. Education Lottery.

The woman,  who says she is  now debt free, continued to the vet and then on to Columbia to cash in on her prize.

“This is the best thing that’s happened to me in a long time,” she told lottery officials.

The odds of winning $200,000 in the MONOPOLY game are 1 in 720,000. No more top prizes remain in the game.

For selling the claimed ticket, Food Lion #179 in Sumter received a commission of $2,000.
