Update by Shawnta McKenziue, Lee County School District Office of Human Resources: Lee County School District will operate on a two-hour delay opening on Friday, Jan. 24. Our decision is based upon the information that we have received relative to our road conditions and the expected temperature tomorrow morning. This will prevent our students from standing at the bus stop in such frigid temperatures. Moreover, the delay will allow for more time for the ice to melt and provide advance traveling time for students and staff members who normally leave home in the dark. This schedule should enhance visibility for everyone. Additionally, all after school programs, athletic events, field trips and extracurricular activities for Friday afternoon have been cancelled.
In order to ensure the safety of our students and staff, Lee County School District works collaboratively with the County Emergency Management Team and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department when making decisions regarding inclement weather in our community.
