Wilson Hall seventh-grader Addyson Burleson recently took third place in a student art contest sponsored by the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, based in Charleston. The annual expo is one of the nation's top wildlife art and nature shows with artists from across the U.S. competing. Student art competition is a significant part of the expo, celebrating young talent and encouraging appreciation of nature and wildlife in the form of art. Burleson's piece was entered through the direction of Michael Hodge, owner and instructor at Sip 'n Gogh, a Sumter-based art studio that is known for its after-school activities and canvas painting classes for all ages.
