On Saturday morning, July 24, 2021, Willie "Pic" English, our beloved father, passed away peacefully at his home.

Willie was born on Jan. 20, 1933, in Sumter County. He was a son of the late Laura and William English Jr. of Rembert and Janie Johnson of Camden. He was reared by the late Charlie (Anna) Wright Sr. of Rembert. He attended the public school system of Sumter County and was employed by Fairview Farm for most of his life. Willie accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age under the leadership of the Rev. H Alexander and later rededicated his life to Christ under the leadership of the Rev. Walter Robertson III of Union Baptist Church. Willie loved music and enjoyed dancing. He was a devoted family man that brought laughter and joy to everyone he met. He welcomed everyone with his warm and infectious smile. His humor, wisdom, strength and love for everyone is a tribute to the beauty of his heart and soul. His remarkable presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor to have known him.

Willie was blessed with a large and loving family. He married the love of his life, the late Corine (Ethel) English in January 1953.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Willene English, Deloris Williams, Carolyn (Jackie) Williams, Peggy (Clyde) Miller and Barbara (Curtis) Spann, all of Rembert, Lilly Mae (Jimmie) Edward of Bladenboro, North Carolina, and Shirley (Dennis) Mark of Sumter; 40 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Francine Boykin of Rembert; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Carroll of Sumter; two brothers-in-law, Dargan Ellerbe of Dalzell and Sammie (Toni) Ellerbe Sr. of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters-in-law, Emma English and Carolyn K. English, both of Rembert: one special niece, Lisa (Darrell) Engram of Rembert; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and caring friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 7200 Saxton Road, Rembert.

Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at Union Baptist Church, 5840 Spring Hill Road, Rembert, with the Rev. Walter Robertson III, pastor, officiating.

The procession will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the home.
