TURBEVILLE - Waymon A. Coker, age 89, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, after an illness.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Turbeville with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Coker was born March 10, 1921, at home in Turbeville, a son of the late Archie N. and Minnie Turbeville Coker. He lived in Turbeville all of his life, with the exception of the time he served his country during World War II. He was a farmer and worked in construction until his retirement in 1987. Waymon was a lifetime member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church and served in many various offices. He was a charter member of American Legion Douglas Post No. 132, where he served as past commander and adjutant.

ALEX E. HUNTER Sr.

MANNING - Deacon Alex E. Hunter Sr., 82, husband of Dolly Whack Hunter, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Palmetto Health Baptist, Columbia.

Born May 21, 1928, in the Wilson community of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Sam Willie and Rosa Hicks Hunter. He attended Wilson Elementary School in Clarendon County. He was a member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Dolly Whack Hunter of Wilson; a son, Alex (Mildred) Hunter Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Rosa (Windell) Fleming of Manning and Roberta Hunter of the home; brother, Robert (Sheila) Hunter of Memphis, Tenn.; sister, Lillie Bell Harvin of Durham, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Wilson Grove United America Freewill Baptist Church in Manning. Burial was in Muldrow Cemetery in Manning.
