Letter to the editor: Vote for Squires to make a difference for children in Sumter

Posted

I am a resident of the Shiloh community, and I am writing to express my support for Monica Squires in the upcoming Sumter School Board Area 4 runoff election. I have known Monica personally for many years, and I worked with her for several years at Cherryvale Elementary School. Monica was an early interventionist at that time, and I had the opportunity and privilege to see how caring and dedicated she was to helping her students achieve success.

Monica also has 10 years of prior experience as a school board member, and her platform is simple and direct. Monica comes with the pledge to listen. She will listen to the needs of teachers, parents and administrators and use all of the information to make informed decisions while keeping the best interests of children a priority.

Voting is one of the most important responsibilities of a United States citizen and South Carolinian. It's our chance to select leaders who will make a difference, and I believe Monica can and will make a difference for the children of Sumter County. Please join me in casting your vote for Monica Squires on Nov. 22.
