Vaccine clinics this week in Sumter, Bishopville

There are two upcoming opportunities to get a COVID-19 vaccine in Sumter and Lee counties.

A clinic will be set up at the North HOPE Center, 904 N. Main St., in Sumter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27. Then on Friday, April 29, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Lee Central High School will host a free clinic at 1800 Wisacky Highway, in Bishopville.

Attendees 5-11 can receive their first or second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Attendees 12 and older can receive either their first, second or booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Attendees 18 and older can receive either their first, second or booster dose of the Moderna vaccine or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine.

According to state public health data, 56% of eligible Lee County residents and 61% of eligible Sumter County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, in comparison to 76% nationally.
