USC's Beamer talks with former SHS DL Green

Jahkeem Green, the former Sumter High School standout defensive lineman who once was committed to the University of South Carolina under former head coach Will Muschamp, spoke with new USC head coach Shane Beamer on Tuesday, according to reports.

Green entered the transfer portal last week after completing his second season with Nebraska. The 6-foot-5-inch, 320-pounder talked with Beamer, according to Hale McGranahan of The BigSpur and 247 Sports.

Green entered the transfer portal after two seasons of limited playing time with the Cornhuskers. He played in five of Nebraska's eight games in the just completed season, finishing with three tackles. Two of those came in the season opener against Ohio State, but he had just one more the rest of the season.

Green signed with the Huskers out of Highland Community College in Kansas in the spring of 2019, and arrived in Lincoln midway through fall camp. He made his Nebraska debut against Ohio State making one tackle. That was his only tackles of the season. He played in two more games, meaning he was able to redshirt because he didn't play four games.

Green has two years of eligibility remaining.

Green originally committed to South Carolina while at Highland and was expected to be part of its 2019 recruiting class. However, when he was unable to graduate from Highland in December of 2018 and still had not met academic requirements in February of 2019, Green and the school moved on to other options.
