MANNING - The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band will celebrate Memorial Day in Manning when the 11-piece brass ensemble takes Weldon's stage at 7 p.m.
The free concert provides "a meaningful way to observe Memorial Day."
The USAF Heritage Brass, renowned for its inspiring performances, will present a program of patriotic music and tributes. The concert will feature a variety of music, highlighting a range of genres and styles, including traditional chamber music, TV and movie scores, jazz and pop, all while honoring the nation's fallen heroes and recognizing the sacrifices made by their families.
The Heritage Brass is known as "a powerhouse of individual musical talent who blend together and present so many genres of musical entertainment." The 90-minute concert will feature the talents of "elite, mission-ready musicians whose commitment to excellence has earned worldwide acclaim and military distinction."
Stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia, these world-class musicians and vocalists travel throughout the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, presenting more than 350 events annually for the general public and in support of airmen's morale and protocol events.
Memorial Day is a day for "visiting cemeteries and memorials to mourn the military personnel who died in the line of duty." In many locations, American flags are placed on the graves of fallen veterans.
Free tickets for the event can be picked up at Weldon Auditorium or at several businesses in Manning, Summerton and Turbeville.
