Nikeen Johnson, 25, who was wanted in connection to an August shooting at a Broad Street mobile home that injured three people including a 7-year-old was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in New York City Thursday.

Johnson and his co-defendant and cousin, Kwodel Johnson, of Sumter, who was arrested on Aug. 20 in Orangeburg, reportedly fired multiple shots into a residence at American Mobile Home Plaza on Aug. 16 after an argument between the four adults.

A second child in the home at the time was not injured. The three who were injured are in stable condition after sustaining critical injuries. They are all family members.

Johnson, who lives in Columbia, was located in New York City and apprehended without incident, according to Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is coordinating with the U.S. Marshals Service to extradite Johnson to South Carolina.

Both Nikeen Johnson and Kwodel Johnson face four counts of attempted murder with other charges pending, Sarvis said.

The investigation is still ongoing.
