Sumter Police Department: Suspect in Walmart shooting turned himself in

UPDATE: Tonyia M. McGirt, public information officer with Sumter Police Department, released that the shooting suspect has turned himself in.

Sumter police responded to what was thought to be an active-shooter call at Broad Street's Walmart Supercenter this afternoon, according to Sumter Police Department.  One person was found injured and is being treated.

According to Tonyia M. McGirt, public information officer for the department, based on a preliminary investigation, the incident is now thought to be the result of an altercation between two individuals and was not an active-shooter situation.

The photos provided by the department are of an individual thought to be involved.  An up to $5,000 reward is available for information leading to the suspect's arrest.
