Tom Patrick Lovett, 93, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Tom was born Dec. 19, 1930, to the late Dennis P. and Florence K. Lovett in Denver, Colorado. He met his late wife, Dorothy K. Kacofka, in Providence, Rhode Island, and was married to her for 52 years.

Tom graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado, in 1949. After having received a scholarship for Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, he graduated from there in 1953. Then, Tom entered the Naval Officers Program and served honorably in the Navy from 1953 to 1956. Next, he worked for Exxon as a field geologist for nine years. Tom’s final place of employment was at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he worked as director of financial aid.

Tom loved the Lord and was an associate member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he served on a couple of ministries. Tom loved the outdoors, and some of his hobbies included running, hiking, biking, sailing and skiing. He also enjoyed antique cars.

Tom is survived by his beloved life partner of 12 years, Karen Bailey. Tom and Karen enjoyed dancing and a great deal of traveling in the United States as well as in Europe. They went cycling and dancing on a regular basis and loved sharing these activities together.

Tom is also survived by his son, Chris Lovett, and daughter, Fran Wise, grandchildren Kristen, Sean and Jason Wise as well as his bonus children Trish and Dave Macerelli and bonus grandchildren Matthew, with wife, Sarah, and Nathan Macerelli, as well as a bonus great-granddaughter, Lana Macerelli, who always made him smile.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy K. Lovett, and his parents, Dennis P. and Florence K. Lovett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
