THOMAS P. THOMPSON SR.

DALZELL — Thomas P. Thompson Sr., “Tommy”, 83, husband of Sandra Thompson, passed from this life to join the Lord on July 2, 2025, at his home.
Born May 25, 1942, in Lake City, he was the son of the late Walter James Thompson and the late Irene Allen Thompson. He retired at the age of 79 after owning two tree companies for over 30 years, Jim’s Tree Service, in partnership with his friend, Jim Arnemann, and Po Boy’s Tree Service in partnership with his nephew, Rex Prescott. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and kayaking, traveling with his family, and spending time in his “Dog House” listening to books and laughing and talking with his family and friends. He dearly loved God and his family. The impact of his life of unwavering faith leaves a legacy that will continue to touch lives.
A man of prayer and service to God’s people, he was a church member and deacon at Green Acres Assembly of God, and member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include Sandy, his beloved wife of 63 years; children, Cindy Thompson Klein (Rob), Thomas Thompson Jr. (fiancé Candace); and three grandchildren, Hunter Thompson Rollins, Thomas "Trey" Thompson III (fiancé Erin) and John Riley Thompson; sisters, May Lineberger, Kay Sprowls (Rick); brothers, John Thompson (Suzie) and Charlie Thompson (Gloria); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Thompson; sisters, Ruth Richburg and Betty Prescott; and brothers, Jimmy Thompson, Billy Thompson and Frank Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be in the High Hills of Santee Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Trey Thompson, John Riley Thompson, Hunter Rollins, Rob Klein, Rex Prescott and Stevie Price.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
