Thomas Daniel Ardis (Tommy), husband of 54 years to Delores Earles Ardis, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 31, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Tommy was born on Jan. 20, 1944, to the late Fred Ardis and Beatrice Ardis.

Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army. After returning home, he worked a few years at Winn Dixie before becoming a federal food inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. There he served as a deacon and taught the adult Sunday School class when needed. Even though Alzheimer's robbed him of his memory, he never forgot who his Lord and Savior was.

Along with his wife, he leaves behind two children, Janet Moore (Fred) and Wesley Ardis (Jennifer); seven grandchildren, Logan Moore Baker (Josh), Koby Ardis, Hailey Ardis, Aubree Ardis, Thomas Ardis, Porter Ardis and Paisley Moore. He has one remaining sister, Earlene Skelcher, currently living in California.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by three sisters, Virginia Verhoven, Vivian Earles and Dianne Arrants; and four brothers, Will (Sonny) Ardis, John Ardis, Henry Ardis and Wayne Ardis, as well as an adopted son, Mike Godfrey.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, in Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Tim Hinson. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers are Wesley Ardis, Fred Moore, Josh Baker, Louie Brown, Lathan Earles and Kevin Ardis.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.

The family offers special thanks to Dr. Robert Eagerton, Kari, Marcia and Jake with McLeod’s Hospice Program. We would also like to thank our special friend Roger Holman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Men’s Ministry of Lakewood Baptist Church, 3140 Nazarene Church Road, Sumter, SC 29154, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 140 Stoneridge Dr #640, Columbia, SC 29210.
