MANNING - Tie on those pink sneakers and take a lap around the Manning High School gymnasium to honor all the cancer OverComers in your family or community from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at 2155 Paxville Highway.
The two-hour event will also honor those courageous individuals who lost their battle with cancer.
During the past 14 years, the event has continued to grow each year.
"We're excited to have it inside the Manning High School gym," said Annett Smith, founder and organizer of the event since its inception. "We have dozens of vendors with gifts for the OverComers. We also have a free meal and T-shirt for each OverComer."
Smith said she'd like to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, donors and vendors for helping make this year's event the best event ever.
"It makes me happy to see the smiles on their faces," Smith added. "I love putting the event together. It is truly a blessing to help others."
All the net proceeds from the event will benefit the Clarendon County Cancer OverComers organization.
CCCOC aids cancer patients with financial assistance through gas cards, payment of cancer treatment-related bills and other essentials that are related to their cancer diagnosis.
While the event is themed "Walk/Run Wearing Pink Sneakers," cancer overcomers who are unable to walk around the gymnasium will be offered assistance, and if pink sneakers aren't in your closet, any shoes or attire will be acceptable.
"We want the event to be fun for everyone," Smith said. "We have lots of door prizes and gift bags for our overcomers."
