Thanks for your continued support of The Item Impact. This monthly newspaper is delivered at no cost to more than 30,000 households across Sumter County.

That's a very large commitment from The Item to distribute local news to such a large audience, and we've enjoyed watching the impact it has had. The first Item slogan in 1894 was "first, for the growth of Sumter." And while we've expanded our goals in 130 years, that's still a significant part of our mission.

The Item promotes Sumter, protects Sumter and informs Sumter and the surrounding region. You can trust The Item, not because our staff never makes errors or mistakes in reporting, but because The Item is made up of your neighbors who care about the well-being of our community.

You may disagree with portions of the national media, and we understand. We're not interested in dividing Sumter. We want to bring Sumter together, providing a better Sumter for us all.
