Sylvia Bradham Barr, 73, wife of Richard C. Barr, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at her home after a valiant fight with cancer.

Born May 22, 1937, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late G.M. and Dolly T. Bradham and was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Bradham and Morgan Bradham.

Mrs. Barr was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adel, where she sang in the adult choir and was a member of the Queen Esther Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the Adel Garden Club. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Adel, who recently honored her by planting a tree for her in the City Park.

Survivors besides her husband of more than 50 years include two sons, Richard C. Barr Jr., and his wife, Maia, of Newport News, Va., and Barry A. Barr and his wife, Julie, of Valdosta, Ga.; three grandsons, Bradham Barr of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alston Barr of Valdosta and Levon Anjaparize of Newport News; a sister, Doris Epperson and husband, Mike, of Bishopville; two brothers, Carl Bradham and wife, Becky, of Lexington, and David Bradham and wife, Patsy, of Summerton; and two sisters-in-law, Dolores Russell and her husband, Ken, of Roswell, N.M., and Geraldine Bradham of Sumter.
