Suspect ID'd in Sumter County bar shooting

A 29-year-old man has been named as a suspect in a case involving a non-fatal shooting at a bar in Sumter County on Sunday.

Jerel Heriot faces multiple charges upon his arrest, including attempted murder, according to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting incident occurred in the 1300 block of Peach Orchard Road on Feb. 2. One man sustained a minor injury, and multiple vehicles were damaged.

Heriot was last seen riding as a passenger in a white 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche with license plate PJR122.

He is described as 5 feet, 8 inches and 160 pounds.
