Susanna Fortune Addison, widow of Theo Addison, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in the Dubose Siding community of Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lula Moses Fortune. She was a former member of New Zion AME Church and later joined the Apostolic faith. She attended Lee County public schools and later attended Lincoln High School in Sumter. She was married for more than 30 years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam Fortune, Murray Fortune, Roman Fortune and Johnny Fortune; and five sisters, Melissa Wells, Mozena Fortune, Elisa Durant, Beulah Fortune and Maggie McFadden.

Surviving are four nieces, Rosa Mae McFadden and Patricia Fortune of New York, Paula Fortune of Sumter and Luella Thomas of Bishopville; five nephews, Henry Wells of Alcolu, Sam Wells of Lamar, Malachi Wells of Connecticut, Darrell Fortune of New York and Roland McFadden of Laurinburg, N.C.; and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. D.L. Grant officiating. Burial followed in Wells Memorial Cemetery on Plowden Mill Road in Sumter.

The family received friends at the home, 4 Gate St., Sumter.
