SUMMERTON - Susan Mayeux Burgett, 52, wife of Harold Dean Burgett, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning.

Born Jan. 3, 1959, in New Orleans, La., she was a daughter of Jane Mayeux Mayeux and the late Joseph Mayeux. She was a nurse who specialized in substance abuse counseling; worked with the South Carolina Department of Corrections; was a member of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors; and was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors besides her mother of Moreauville, La. and husband of Summerton include a daughter, Susan Amy Maillet of the home; a brother, Paul Mayeux of Moreauville; aseveral nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Bowers officiating.

STELLA DAVIS-McFADDEN

Stella Davis-McFadden died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at her home after an extended illness.

Born July 7, 1924, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Frederick Davis and Minnie Dukes-Davis and widow of Leon McFadden Sr. She attended Clarendon County public schools and was self-employed as a homemaker. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Manning. Later, she joined St. Peter Baptist Church where she served as Mother of the church, a member of the Pastor's Aid Ministry, devotional leader and member of the gospel choir and missionary ministry.

Survivors include six daughters, Hester McFadden, Queen (Ervin) Jackson, Della McFadden-Rose, Shirley (James) Blassingame and Annette McFadden, all of Sumter, and Patsy McFadden-Brogdon of Charlotte; three sons, Charlie (Pauline) McFadden and Leon McFadden Jr., both of Sumter, and Willie (Zeritha) McFadden of Charlotte; two sisters, Minnie Davis-Prince and Lila Mae Daniels of Sumter; sister-in-law, Ruth (George) McKinney of Lancaster, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Buster (Elizabeth) McFadden of Opa Locka, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by several sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Berea Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Pastor Robert Green Jr., assisted by the Rev. Sylvester Francis, eulogist, the Rev. Eugene Winn and the Rev. Al Smiling. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family received friends at the home, 302 Oswego Highway, Sumter.
