Sumter officers are working to locate a missing vehicle and identify a suspect after a woman was found dead inside her home Friday night.

At around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a call after family members of Miranda Sexton, 31, of Henrietta Street, found her body inside the home, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.

An initial investigation indicates Sexton suffered injures consistent with a stabbing. The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Officers are working to identify a suspect and the incident is considered isolated, McGirt said.

Officers are also searching for a vehicle that belonged to Sexton and was not found at the house. Anyone who sees a black 2015 Hyundai Elantra with S.C. license tag KZT563 is asked to contact the nearest law enforcement agency immediately.

Anyone with information or who may have heard or seen anything in the 30 block of Henrietta Street on Friday is asked to contact the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.
