Sumter Today: We visit the library to do some solar astronomy

Posted

All throughout the summer, the Sumter County Library is hosting events to keep kids engaged and entertained while maybe even learning a thing or two in the process. On Thursday, Larry Metcalf, a NASA Solar System Ambassador better known as Sunspot Larry, stopped by the Westmark location with two of his high powered telescopes to talk about solar astronomy and give kids, and some parents, the chance to check out the sun from a whole new perspective. He also brought is own 4.6 billion year old meteorite with him.
