Sumter Today: USC Sumter’s women’s tennis are heading to nationals

Posted

Both the USC Sumter men’s and women’s tennis teams have had an outstanding year.

Both Fire Ant teams qualified for the NJCAA National Championship this season, marking the Lady Fire Ants’ first trip to the tournament.

After not having any intercollegiate athletic teams since 1979, USC Sumter got back into the athletic arena in 2007.

Women’s tennis was reintroduced in 2015, and now under the direction of a new coach, the women’s team is headed to Arizona on Friday, and public support is always appreciated, whether from the cheering section or financially.

We stopped by a practice this week to learn more about the Lady Fire Ants’ program and their hopes for an end to their season.
