Sumter Today: USC Sumter helps children celebrate World Book Day

Posted

Children filled the USC Sumter lawn at the Sumter Farmers Market on Friday for a World Book Day event celebrating literacy and mental health awareness.
USC Sumter, along with other community partners, hosted the event to provide children with free readings, free cooks, treats, activities and a book sale.
The event was the college’s first since the pandemic, and we stopped by to learn more about the program that aimed to help kids promote mental health awareness during a time when children are still navigating the impacts of the pandemic and offer them free resources and educational materials.
