Sumter Today: The Sumter Fire Dept. recognizes its volunteers

Each year, the Sumter Fire Department holds a banquet to honor the men and women that serve our community. Because of the pandemic, this banquet didn't happen in 2020 and was split into smaller events in 2021. On Thursday night, each station was brought together for the first time since 2019. The program was nearly cancelled again as Sumter prepares for Hurricane Ian's arrival, but the department's command staff felt it was imperative to recognize these first responders after going so long without a proper banquet.
Sumter Today is presented by the University of South Carolina Sumter, Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, and Sumter Tourism Visit Sumter, SC.
