The Fourth of July holiday is upon us, and while there are always pops of fireworks heard throughout neighborhoods this festive weekend, there may be more than usual this year. With COVID-19 canceling the county’s fireworks show at Dillon Park and postponing Freedom Bash at Shaw Air Force Base, there is nowhere to go to see a professional display in Sumter this year. That means more people are likely to be doing fireworks at their homes, so we stopped by the Sumter Fire Department to get some tips we could share with you all about how to have fun while keeping yourself, your friends and family and your pets safe.
