Sumter Today: Sumter’s first charter school gets a big boost from a local philanthropist

Liberty STEAM Charter School has been gaining momentum since being approved to become Sumter County’s first-ever tuition free public charter school.
Set to open this fall, they held their student lottery at the end of last year, and now they met today to hear from experts who have been down their path before.
They also received a big boost today with a million-dollar donation from Sumter-based Williams Brice Edwards Charitable Trust.
