Sumter Today: Giving the Gift of Trees!

Lemira Elementary was the first of several schools in the area to participate in some hands-on horticulture education. Fourth graders assisted John Thomasson, representing Pilgrim's Corporation, and City of Sumter, South Carolina Horticulturist Brock McDaniel in planting two Live Oaks on school grounds. The pair also gave a lesson on the importance of greenery in our community and the endless benefits of trees.
Sumter Today is presented by University of South Carolina Sumter, Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, and Sumter Opera House.
