Sumter Today: Dr. Martin-Knox Lifts Her Baton Once Again!

The recent surge in COVID cases has put an even higher burden on teachers as they continue to see staff shortages and deal with teaching amid a pandemic.
To help fill in on short notice, Sumter School District Superintendent Penelope Martin-Knox taught band at Sumter High School to substitute for their band director. The superintendent got her start in teaching in music, so she did more than supervise the students.
Sumter Today is presented by the Sumter Opera House, University of South Carolina Sumter, and Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
