Sumter Today: A Sumter High School standout making it in the big leagues sends gifts home

Jordan Montgomery got his start on the diamond at Sumter High School, and being on the mound for the Yankees hasn’t made him forget his roots.

The young MLB pitcher threw bullpens with the baseball team over the summer, and he recently gave them new cleats.

While he couldn’t deliver them in person because he had to report to spring training, we caught up with him over Zoom and stopped by for the delivery to learn more about the gifts and Sumter High’s new interim baseball coach.
