Sumter Today: A Local ESL Program goes Above and Beyond

The Parent Workshop is designed to assist non-English speaking families with learning to read, write, comprehend and structure the English language.
This enables students to improve their ability to hold a conversation, and some of the participants have even passed their citizenship exam after attending sessions.
Others have found employment, and some of the younger participants are assisting with homework, reading activities and other learning activities.
Sumter Today is presented by University of South Carolina Sumter, Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, and Sumter Opera House.
