Sumter Today: A Burger Cook-off to Help Battle Cancer

Posted

The Palmetto Optimist Club hosted a burger cook-off in downtown Sumter to raise money for Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. According to executive director Laura Allen, the organization received $4,500 before the first burger was served. Enough to support a year's worth of transport to and from treatments for a full year. The winning "Train Wreck" burger from the Barbecuties team earned a place on the menu of Paul's Diner in Dalzell for one year. For each purchase of the burger $1 will go to Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
