Sumter Today: We meet the finalists for the lead position at Sumter’s new charter school

Posted

Sumter STEAM Charter School was approved earlier this year to become the county’s first-ever public charter school. Set to open next fall, the founding board members have been planning and working to form the foundation of the school. They’re down to four finalists for the school’s executive director, which is essentially the principal who also has fundraising duties. A reception was held downtown this week for stakeholders and community leaders to meet the finalists and learn more about the charter school, whose mission is to provide all scholars with equal access to real world, personalized and project-based learning experiences through a STEAM-based academic program.
