Sumter Today: Sumter’s top teachers help give back to their community

The Sumter Teacher Forum is made up of the current and most recent year’s Teachers of the Year, and they get together both for professional development and community improvement. As last year’s Teacher of the Year, High Hills Elementary’ s Shasta Smith took on a project for the forum this year to change the way the Hailey Bordeaux Memorial Scholarship Dinner is done. With her goal in mind to help Sumter teachers give back to the Sumter education pipeline, we sat in on a recent forum meeting to see what they had in the works.
