Sumter Today: We talk under water training with the Sumter Fire Department

Posted

For the Sumter Fire Department, training is just another part of the job. While one shift is manning the station and waiting for calls, the out at the fire department training grounds keeping their minds and bodies sharp. If there is a situation they’ll encounter on a call, they’ve probably prepared for it. Under water rescue scenarios, though less prevalent, are no different. We caught up with a shift at the aquatics center as they trained with their quick packs - oxygen tanks that allow them to breathe underwater for 10 to 15 minutes - that are ready on every fire truck.
