Sumter Today: USC Sumter holds a summer camp about the Civil War

This week in USC Sumter’s Summer Scholar Series, students age 9 through 14 got to learn about the Civil War, with a hands-on experience that went over everything from how did troops march onto the battlefield to how were cannons loaded to how did cavalry troops fight on horseback. They got to learn about infantry, artillery and cavalry from David Decker, a historian and active re-enactor.
