Sumter Today: The 79th Annual Iris Festival begins at Swan Lake

Every Memorial Day weekend, the Sumter Iris Festival brings thousands of people from he region and even different countries to Swan Lake. It's the longest continuously running festival in the Southeast and this year will offer plenty of family friendly activities, from vendors and food to art, entertainment and the once-a-year opportunity to ride on a boat on the lake. The festivities kicked off yesterday with the crowning of the Iris Queen and King and Taste at the Gardens, a local food truck and vendor event that featured live music.
