Thanks in part to local high school's 50th reunion, a part of World War II and U.S. Army history is now preserved in Sumter. Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Jack Folley was at his 50th reunion for Edmunds High School recently when he was struck with the idea of what to do with a box of his uncle's personal items from his time in World War II under Patton's Third Army. He contacted his friend, George Patton Waters, the famous general's grandson, and together they brought those artifacts to U.S. Army Central, which is headquartered at Shaw Air Force Base.
