On Monday, the Sumter school board selected its evaluation instrument for conducting its formal evaluation later this month of Superintendent Penelope Martin-Knox and set a date for that meeting.
Board Chairman the Rev. Ralph Canty spoke late Monday and confirmed the trustees will do their annual evaluation of Martin-Knox at a special-called meeting on Monday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m.
That meeting will come in place of the board's regularly scheduled monthly work session, which was previously scheduled for that day and time.
As part of the superintendent's contract, the trustees are to perform an evaluation in the fall of each year. With an official start date of July 1, 2019, this will be Martin-Knox's first evaluation.
