A 36-year-old was killed in a shooting Friday, and police say they are working to identify those involved.

Officers responded to a call of shots being fired after 6 p.m. Friday on Rolling Creek Drive, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. She said Tyrone Prince was found shot inside a vehicle parked in the roadway outside of his home.

The department’s initial investigation indicates that after shots were fired, two men, possibly in their 20s, were seen running toward Boulevard Road from a car parked in Prince’s driveway.

Prince was treated at the scene but later died while being transported to a hospital. The Sumter County Coroner’s Office notified his family and scheduled an autopsy.

Anyone with information about the shooting or those involved is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
