Sumter police identify 3rd suspect in S. Guignard Drive shooting, seek public's help to locate

In addition to a news release sent earlier on Wednesday, Sumter Police Department has identified a third suspect in the fatal shooting on South Guignard Drive.

Fernando Quintez Adams, 20, of Beckridge Drive, is wanted on charges of murder and attempted murder in connection to the killing of Tavares McFadden and injury of a passenger riding with McFadden on Monday, May 27, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for police department.

Officers are working to find Adams and a second suspect, a minor whose name has not been released. The other suspect, Curtis Jefferson Jr., 19, of Mayesville, is in custody at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

McFadden and the passenger were stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Green Swamp Road and South Guignard Drive when gun shots fired from a white sedan, stopped alongside them, struck them both,  according to the police department. The white sedan then sped off onto South Guignard Drive.
