A Sumter man linked through an investigation to the sale of significant amounts of methamphetamine in the Sumter community is in custody and charged, according to a news release from Sumter Police Department.
Jermaine Jy-Quan Smith Jr., 22, of Shuler Drive, was charged Tuesday, March 11, with trafficking of methamphetamine of 400 grams or more after weeks of investigation conducted by Sumter Police Department and S.C. Law Enforcement Division.
Nearly $16,500 in cash and more than 1 pound of meth were confiscated after warrants were served at two properties associated with the suspect in the Broad Street and Highland Avenue area of the city.
Smith is being held at Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center, where bond was denied early Thursday, March 13. The investigation remains ongoing.
