Sumter piano students receive top ratings

Sumter piano students Anna Krueger, Sophia Greene, Finn McGregor, Joe Atkinson, Chloe Gosnell and Brooke Barkley received the top ratings of Superior Plus (1+) and Superior (1) in recent South Carolina Piano Festival Association auditions held at the University of South Carolina School of Music in Columbia.Krueger, Greene and McGregor were chosen to perform in the State Honors Recital at the USC School of Music on March 23. In addition, McGregor was designated as the Honorable Mention winner for the entire Senior division. All are piano students of Jane Luther Smith. Each student was judged by out-of-state judges on their performance of three memorized pieces chosen from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods.
