The Sumter Police Department seeks the public’s help in locating a Columbia man wanted in connection to a weekend shooting that left a man injured.
The shooting took place outside a Carolina Avenue residence at 8 p.m. on Jan. 29. Antoine Joefran Durant, 24, of Hardscrabble Road in Columbia, is wanted on attempted murder and weapons charges, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.
An initial investigation indicated Durant and the 42-year-old victim, who were acquainted with one another, were arguing outside the victim’s home when shots were fired. Durant then left in a dark-colored, four-door vehicle, McGirt said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and is recovering. McGirt said the incident is considered isolated, and an investigation is ongoing.
Durant is about 170 pounds, 5 feet 7 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who sees Durant or knows where he could be is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
