Sumter nonprofit hosts inaugural Music and Cultural Fest

The inaugural Music and Cultural Fest, hosted by Profit World Foundation headed by Richard Patrick, featured food, music and games for family members throughout Sumter County on Oct. 12.

Profit World Foundation, founded by Patrick in 2021, is a "community action group focused on making change in the community through positive action," according to The Sumter Item archives. The organization, once operated through sports as a way to get people outside and back into the community, hosts several events throughout the year, such as job fairs, basketball tournaments, back-to-school bashes and more.

Though the foundation's resources are mainly mobile or hosted at different venues, they are centered on education, employment, mentoring and life coaching.

Several community members attended the event last Saturday, including Sumter County Councilman Carlton Washington and his family.
