Sumter man wanted in connection to attempted murder case

The Sumter Police Department is working to locate a man wanted in connection to a non-fatal shooting that occurred in March.

On March 5 after 2 a.m., officers responded to a call of a fight in progress at a Charlotte Avenue residence. While en route, they learned that multiple shots were fired toward individuals at the house.

J’Fon S’Mordick Nike Richardson, 25, of Community Street, was identified as a suspect, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.

No one was injured during the gunfire. However, houses and nearby vehicles were struck, McGirt said.

Richardson is wanted on several charges including attempted murder and weapons charges, McGirt said.

An investigation is ongoing.
