The Sumter Police Department seeks the public’s help to locate a man wanted in connection to a string of shots-fired incidents.

Jamal Prince, 19, of Robney Drive, faces pointing and presenting a firearm and other charges, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.

The first incident occurred on Sept. 13, where a parked vehicle was shot multiple times on Calhoun Street, McGirt said.

On Sunday, shots were fired into a home on Robney Drive, and less than an hour later, shots were fired at an apartment complex on Calhoun Street. Prince ran off from both scenes, she said.

Multiple shots were fired during these incidents, which appear to be related to a past relationship, McGirt said. No injuries were reported, but damage to vehicles and a residence were reported.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office have reported an increase in drive-by shootings within the last 30 days, a majority of which occured in the South Sumter area.

Anyone who knows where Prince can be found is asked to call the Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700. The department also remind residents to always dial 911 in emergency.
