Sumter man wanted after woman robbed at gunpoint

The Sumter Police Department issued warrants for a Sumter man who is wanted for reportedly robbing a woman at gunpoint early Monday.

Sharell Wells, 27, of Cambridge Drive, is wanted for armed robbery, first-degree assault and battery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to the Sumter Police Department.

The incident happened at about 11 a.m. in the parking lot of a Lafayette Drive apartment complex and remains under investigation.

Wells is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs about 145 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
