An investigation is ongoing after a local man was found shot to death in a county home Wednesday morning.
At about 5 a.m. on May 7, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home along Dink Street after a report of a man found unresponsive in the home, according to Mark Bordeaux, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.
The man was identified as 43-year-old Robert Dustin Burleson, according to Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. He was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, Baker said.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, May 12, at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
