A Sumter man died after falling from the 15th floor of the Ocean Reef Hotel in Myrtle Beach over the weekend.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy said 22-year-old Jacob Matthews died Sept. 14 in an accidental fall, and no evidence led to the incident being suicidal.

Bellamy said Matthews told his mother, with whom he was staying at the hotel, that he was going out to the balcony to take pictures. His mother was napping shortly after and woke up to find him missing. She then called him to find that the incident occurred.

Bellamy said there is no autopsy scheduled or planned.
